How to Protect Yourself and Your Family from Pests

If you spend any time at all outdoors, you know what it is like to battle mosquitos and ticks. These two pests are as prevalent in your backyard as they are in the woods and meadows. Some people think of mosquitos as simply annoying, but you should know that mosquitos carry disease; more than a million people a year die of diseases carried by mosquitos, which include:

• Malaria
• West Nile Virus
• Yellow Fever
• Dengue
• Encephalitis

Obviously, it is in your best interest to do everything you can to control the mosquito population in your backyard. The same is true for ticks; a pest that is not harmless by any means. Ticks carry many diseases, including Lyme disease, which is a bacterial infection that causes a wide range of illnesses, Babesiosis and Ehrlichiosis, which are parasitic infections that affect the red and white blood cells, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever, which despite its name, is prevalent all over North and South America. All tick-borne diseases are serious, many are permanently disabling, and some are fatal to both humans and animals.

5 Ways to Boost Testosterone Levels in Men

The world of health and fitness is discovering more and more about the hormone testosterone, and the multitudinous benefits that are associated with it. For men, testosterone is vital to complete health. Testosterone helps to boost the metabolism so that men can burn excess calories and rid the body of excess fat. It is vital to the body’s ability to add muscle mass. With a greater understanding of the importance of testosterone, an inevitable question arises: How can men increase their testosterone levels?

Unfortunately, once a man reaches the age of thirty, his ability to naturally produce testosterone at the required levels declines. This means that the testosterone levels begin to decline as well. Don’t worry, this does not mean that age 30 is the beginning of the end; it simply means that you have to find ways to stimulate testosterone production.

This article will provide five ways that any man can raise his testosterone levels, so that he can reap the benefits.

Lift Heavy

Heavy Lifting in the gym; especially using compound exercises, has great benefits as far as increasing testosterone levels. Compound exercises such as squats, bench press, and dead lifts, with a weight that causes failure between the 6th and 8th rep stimulates testosterone production. Remember to keep your workout under an hour. The body begins to go into a catabolic state beginning at the 40 minute mark. Use recovery periods of less than two minutes between sets.

Ear Check Up

Warning: This article was posted using iPhone 4s. I just would like to ask a little of your understanding for the possible errors.

Just last week, the Family Man have told me about the " ringing thing" he hears on his left ear. Whether he is driving or not, he felt that something is not right with his ears and it is affecting his hearing and possibly causes his vertigo attacks. On the second day of his observation, he told me that he needed to see a doctor thus an ear check up was scheduled immediately.

He filed for a half-day leave from work and went home to take his lunch. We initially went to the nearest hospital but the visiting ENT is only during the morning so we headed to Alexian Brothers Health and Wellness Center. Luckily, we found a good doctor for the Family Man.

Both of his ears were checked. The doctor noticed that phlegm was starting to form inside his eardrum thus the reason for the "ringing thing" on his ears. We were told that it was due to his allergic rhinitis and every time he sneezes the phlegm was pushed inside his ears then to his ear drums. He was given prescription for ten days; one medicine he have to take before bedtime and the other one should be taken three times a day for ten days.

As of this writing, the Family Man is drill taking his medicines and so far his condition is improving minus the ringing on his ears . Thanks to God and to a good doctor.

Health Concerns of Men At 40

Life begins at 40. This stands true for most because at 40 most people are already stable in almost all aspects of their lives especially with their careers and finances. But 40 is also the age wherein  more men are having concerns with their health.

Just like this family man wherein for the last few months, he needed to see his doctor because of several health concerns. First is his regular check up to properly monitor his high blood pressure, second is due to the pain he felt on his left elbow which is caused by arthritis and just recently, due to allergy or contact dermatitis caused by the longer exposure to chemicals at work.

At 40, these are the health concerns of most men and surely others have experienced the same or even worst. I think that reaching 40 is a good start for everyone to change their lifestyle and live a healthier life. Becoming healthy beyond 40 is really challenging for most men especially if they want to reach the age of 60 or 70  years old. It is maybe off but during that time viagra is also considered an issue for men such age.
