Saddened by Pacquiao's Defeat to Marquez

Among the few things that can make the Family Man stay at home during Sundays is going to church and of course every time Manny Pacquiao fights in the ring. We do not have a cable at home but we are thankful  for the generous neighbor who never fails to subscribe to PPV every time Pacquiao  has a fight. The Pacquiao fight is definitely a reunion among the Waterlily neighborhood. Thank you Tommy and Ate Claire :)

The energy of all the people in the room were so high since the beginning of the fight  but after Pacquiao was knocked out on the 6th round, everyone vanished in silence including our beloved Barangay Captain. As Filipinos, of course most of us are saddened by Pacquiao's loss to Marquez. The defeat came as a shocked because for so many years in the ring, this is the only time Pacquiao was KO and hit so hard. I am just thankful that Manny recovered after a few minutes.

The result of the fight brought different reaction to the nation - most are concerned on Pacquiao's condition while some have negative stand on the issue. They are blaming Manny's change of religion, not wearing the rosary, not making the sign of the cross, etc...

I couldn't believe that the knocked out actually happened but my first reaction was to silently pray for Manny's life. It's hard to accept Pacquiao's defeat but it is even harder for Filipinos to see that our hero could have died right before our very eyes. I am so thankful to see that despite what happened, Pacquiao could still manage to smile and show his sportsmanship.

We may be saddened by your defeat, the Filipinos are still very proud of you Manny. A lot of lessons have been learned and I pray for the gift of discernment for you to discern God's will in your life. Praying also for your fast recovery. Just keep the faith Manny! The whole nation is behind you all the way - WIN or LOSS! You are still a HERO for us.  May the Lord God Bless you always!

A prayer grabbed from 100% Katolikong Pinoy

Let us offer our prayers for our brother Emmanuel Pacquiao:
(† In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti. Amen.)

"Lord, as we witness today the fall of our fellow Filipino in the ring, we pray that his health be preserved and restored. May nothing harmful happen to his body and may it not affect badly to his physical well-being. If something seriously happened, please help him and cure him through Your mercy. And may this fall spark in him a realization, that there is more worth keeping and attaining than title and achievement, and that is to remain faithful to You who is the God of goodness and mercy. In his still upcoming victories, may he also take pride on Your victories in Your Church throughout history. May he realize that it is not the cheer of the world that counts, but the cheer of the citizens of Heaven at the end of this earthly fight. Finally, may he return in full communion to the fold of Your Church and embrace Your promises with us. "

This we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen."

Nakatsamba lang si Marquez, lucky punch.

I think It's not the change of religion that caused his defeat. It's more on the focusing perhaps. But no matter what, I still believe Manny Pacquiao is the man.

The saddest part sa pagkatalo ni Manny is that some quarters are dragging religion sa issue. Shit, lucky punch talaga ang tumama kay Manny, That's it. No one to blame, fate yun eh.

He had his glorious run in the boxing arena. It's time to let go and pass the baton. But for me, he'll always be the greatest BOXING CHAMP of all time.

Marquez...well, it's just a lucky punch.

The entire Filipino nation was disheartened by the loss. So much has been said about Pacman's defeat but there's only one great man left standing and that's the Pacman himself who excellently showed that he can rise up gracefully after a great fall. It's the depth of his character that drawn him closer to his audience not only for amongst us Filipinos but to the different races around the world.

Win or lose, he will always be remembered for the glory and honor he gave to our beloved country.

there is a time for winning and a time for losing, depending on how we respond to the situation, that losing can be turned into a winning moment, that's what Manny did. sadly, the religion should not be brought by others, as it can be simply coincidental.

okey lang yan Rovs, sometimes defeat comes to anyone of us, so that we will know the feeling of being a loser and with that it helps us grow. Winner pa rin naman si Manny kahit na talo sya sa laban na eto.

Well, each one of us has a turn but am still proud of Manny. I read an article about him that it has too much in his plate that maybe he loss concentration and priority.

regardless of his defeat, he's still a champion in the hearts of Filipinos. Kudos to the one who wrote that prayer. i think it's about time for him to retire and hear the pleas of his love ones.

I have never been a fan of manny ...i am actually anti-manny hehehe but I was also saddened by his defeat...not for him but for Pinoy's pride. He should've stopped during his prime :)

Change of religion is never an issue. His faith remains. Look how he and his wife answered the questions throw to them. "God have plans for them". He is the true winner with the right attitude he have shown. He still deserve a big round of applause.

Gurl sabi nila, for business wise dapat lang daw talunin ni Marquez si Pacquiao so they could fight again next time. I am not sure if that's true. But yeah we should still be thankful that he is alive and no major damage.

I am saddened by his defeat as well! But, what's worse is, people dragging religion into this issue and blaming it solely for him losing the fight.. I mean, come on!
