Whether you are home owner in need of a decor change or a landlord wanting to stay on top of the latest furniture trends to bring more appeal to your property, this year’s furniture trends can revive a tired room into a stylish haven. Like fashion, furniture styles and trends can bring individuality yet comfort to a home of any size. Let’s take a look at what styles are in trend in 2013.
Bright Colours
At this year’s IMM (the International Furnishings Show) trade show in Germany’s city of Cologne, bright, colour block pieces brought a bit of positive and vibrant energy to the event. For a while, muted colours such as greys, beiges and browns have taken center stage, and although these versatile colours will always have a place within our homes, it is nice to liven up a room with a colourful statement piece. Many bright furniture pieces came in organic, quite minimalist shapes in order to balance the loud colours with an everyday shape for consumers. If you have a smaller home, use colour to accent a room as this can create the illusion of space with splashes of character.
Smaller pieces
The UK property market is currently going through a revival with more first time buyers getting onboard the property ladder since 2007 thanks to more open loans. Therefore, smaller scaled furniture is a great trend for those either wanting more space or buying for the first time. Smaller sizes allow buyers to play around more with style and pattern whilst still focusing on functionality and comfort.
Stripes
It seems that the striped trend seen on the fashion catwalks for spring and summer has also influenced the world of home decor with bold black and white being a design highlight in 2013. Stripes can bring a modern and dynamic character to a space, so whether it is a striped chair, rug or even wallpaper, this trend is worth investigating. Keep the style tasteful by choosing matching stripes. Alternatively, black and white with hints of colour give a great graphic effect to make a room shine.
Attention to detail
Following with the graphic theme, 2013 will see more graphic artists collaborate with interior designers to bring fresh, new dimensions to furnishings. This attention to detail was also seen at the IMM show with coloured piping, neon painted finishes and ornate patterns. This inventive graphic style was also highlighted at the show with the use of surprising materials including felt lampshades. You don’t have to stick to just furniture either as graphic, lettered wallpapers are also a talking point this year.
Once you have completed the finishing touches to your property, you will then need guidance, good contacts and property management which can be found at property management rentify to get your property onto the market.

i love bright colours! all shades of orange (fr the lightest to tangerine orange) will always be my top favourite in terms of interior decorations.
Hubby and I have the same tastes of dark colour with asian and industrial combination.
I like the first style on the photo, it's pleasing to the eyes.
Ate Rovs, is this a PJ post? I'm wondering if okay lang ba magbutang ug photos sa posts? Heheh Thank you!
To others this concept of home furnishing designs is something to try, But sad to say, parang masakit sa mata ang color.
I'd still need to acquire a property of my own before I can actually furnish and style it the way I want it. I always love the bright and colorful stuff so I shall most likely bring to life my own haven with such masterpiece, hehe! This post certainly is a huge help, Teh. Thanks for the lovely share :-)
i love decorating...i wish i could do more but since we are just renting a place, we are not allowed for any renovations at all cost. :( but i love orange and red for a home...just warm, cozy feeling, i guess! luckily, we have that around our house: red, orange and brown...hanks to bits and pieces! :) thanks for sharing.
