A Few Things That Can Really Annoy Your Real Estate Agent

Working with a real estate agent can be a great partnership that will be very beneficial for selling your home or buying a house. They will be able to offer their expert advice and their local knowledge about the real estate market, in order to help you to sell your property or find the perfect property for your needs.

However, when you take the time to find a real estate agent and work with them, you might not know that the things that you are doing are driving them crazy. There are some habits that clients have which really annoy their real estate agents. Here are a few of the things that house hunters should avoid doing when working with their estate agents:

Don’t Assume You Know Everything Because You Did Research Online
These days, the average buyer has access to a lot of information online and they can learn a lot about the properties available in their area and the local real estate market. However, the information online can leave a lot out. Also, online listings can be very dated and the property advertised might not even be still for sale.

If you send your realtor a list of properties that you have found online, they might look through them and realise that only a few of them are still on the market. Most of the time, it is better to let your realtor look through the MLS listings, because they have access to the same listings. However, the listings that your real estate agent sees have been updated with additional information and have been filtered to weed out anything out of date. Trust the expert to do the searching for you.

Don’t Be Too Much of a Cheapskate
Of course, you are looking for the cheapest property that you can find – but real estate agents sometimes get annoyed with buyers who are looking for a property for next to nothing. Despite the advice of the realtor, they will put in an offer that is ridiculously low and it will get rejected. Then, the cheapskate will ask the realtor to try to negotiate for them and get the property cheaper. This type of behaviour will very quickly annoy a real estate agent.

When making an offer on a property, feel free to try to get a good deal but make sure that the price you have in mind is reasonable and realistic – otherwise you are just wasting everyone’s time.

Don’t Expect the Real Estate Agent to Figure Your Life Out
Most real estate agents really doesn’t like it when you treat them like your counsellor or your mother and ask them for advice on major life decisions. Perhaps you aren’t sure whether or not you want to buy the house, because you might be moving away or going back to University. However, it isn’t the responsibility of the real estate agent to help you with your life choices. They only thing that they can advise you on is the pros and cons of buying that particular property. Don’t ask your realtor tough life questions like this – it just makes things awkward. Instead, decide on what you want in the first place and let your agent help you to find it.

Don’t Two-Time Your Agent
When you team up with a real estate agent, they put a lot of time and effort into making a sale. They put the hours in and spend their weekends and evenings showing off homes, so that they can eventually earn their commission. If you are working with several agents at once to see different homes, this is unethical. You will be wasting the time of at least one professional agent who won’t be getting paid for the hard work they are putting in. Also, it is better to work with one agent who will get to know your preferences and be more effective at finding you the right home.

These are just a few of the things that clients do which really annoy real estate agents. Make sure that you keep these points in mind and try not to make any of these mistakes when you are buying or selling your home.
