If there is one food that the Family Man is craving almost all the time, it would be batchoy. La Paz Batchoy or not as long as it is batchoy to him, he would surely have it without second thoughts. Preferably, he would want to have a La Paz Batchoy but since he cannot find any place here in Davao City that offers authentic La Paz batchoy that Ted’s and Deco’s have, he just content himself with what is available but definitely his thirst for the kind of Batchoy he have in his hometown is still and will always be there.
Batchoy is the considered to be a comfort food for most Ilonggos like my husband. La Paz batchoy is usually consists of Miki (fresh egg noodles) with shredded chicken breast, pork intestine and liver, generously topped with chicharon, fried garlic, sliced spring onions, boiled or fresh egg, and the most important ingredient of all is the soup. The broth should be consists of beef and pork buto-buto cooked slowly for hours to be able to get its rich taste.
Whenever the husband learns that a particular place is offering batchoy, he will always find a way to be there. Just like recently, he discovered that Cecil’s has batchoy, he would always go there right after work. I wonder why sometimes he doesn’t want to eat dinner at home only to find out that he is already full with batchoy.
And by the way, La Paz Batchoy is always served with extra bowl of soup. You can actually add some more if you want to, just ask the staff. This La Paz Batchoy experience is one of the most anticipated part every time we visit Iloilo. The Iloilo experience is not complete without a bowl of La Paz Batchoy from Ted's or Deco's.
