A Portrait of Love

How do you deal with loneliness especially when you miss someone important? What will you do with the fact that no matter how many hours you spent talking to each other over the phone, the longing to see that person don’t just go away? Every one of us has our own way of handling boredom and loneliness. Others would seek refuge from their family and friends while others would keep themselves busy on other things just to forget that feeling even for a while. Well, hubby has a unique way of battling desolation.

Here's the story...

Last 2006, I was given an out of town assignment in Palawan wherein I need to spend a month or two to complete it. Bren who is still my boyfriend that time doesn’t have any choice but to support me with my job. Every day was a challenge for him because we are not used to this kind of set up since we practically see each other every single day since we become sweethearts. I miss him alright, but I was so pre-occupied with the work given and my determination to finish on schedule made me very busy so basically the chances of thinking about him is very slim while I was in Palawan.

If I took the situation very lightly, Bren was somehow very affected. Since two months is quite a long time for him, he went for a vacation in my parents’ place but when he returned home, he can’t help but always think about me. To keep himself busy while waiting for the day of my return, he started sketching a portrait of me. I am not sure if he used my old picture or just his imagination to be able to finish it.

He gave the sketch as a gift to me the very day of my return. I can’t help but be impressed and be touched by what he did. It was indeed a portrait of love. His own way of saying how much he loves me and that he misses me so badly. I still have this portrait kept as a treasure that no amount of money could ever pay. I am excited for the chance to tell our kids the history and story behind this portrait.

And oh, by the way the body in this drawing is not mine but of the sexy actress Sunshine Cruz who Bren happens to see in a newspaper while working on this  masterpiece. Hehehe
